What Is the Twinrix Vaccination?
The Twinrix vaccination offers combined immunization against the Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B viruses.
Twinrix comes in three doses, with the second shot being administered 30 days after the first, and the final injection given six months later. The combined vaccination means travellers can reduce the number of shots needed for Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B protection from five to three.
It is important that you make an appointment with your Passport Health Travel Medicine Specialist at least one month before your travels, as a single dose of Twinrix will provide only 70% protection against the virus. In some circumstances an accelerated series of shots can be taken in a single month. Getting the combined vaccination does not lead to any increased side effects.
